A grandmother has been tortured and beaten to death by a group of locals who accused her of being a witch.
Akua Denteh, 90, was attacked by a mob led by a local witch doctor called Filin who claimed that she has admitted to the witchcraft allegations.
Ms. Denteh’s 25-year-old granddaughter Latifah Bumaye was also seen on video beating the elderly woman.
Information made available to Qibla FM indicated that Ms. Denteh resided at Kafaba, a town in Ghana’s Savannah Region.
The sad incident took place on the streets of Kafada, on Thursday, July 23.
Videos showing the victim’s injuries have disgusted many around the world.
Human and women’s rights organizations have condemned the incident and called on the authorities to punish all the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
