Saudi Arabia woman makes history

Weam Al Dakheel, has become the first woman in the history of Saudi Arabia to present the main evening news in the strictly conservative nation.

She appeared on the Saudi state TV Al Saudiya alongside male anchor Omar Al Nashwan last Thursday.

According to information made available to Qibla FM, Dakheel has worked at multiple media houses before finally landing at the 9:30 p.m. evening newscasting position.

After a two year stint at CNBC Arabia, She became a news reader for Al-Arab news in Bahrain between 2014-17.

Al Dakheel attended the Lebanese American University and graduated in 2011 with a BA in journalism.
